Looks like Lil Wayne’s use of lyrics has cost him to be dropped by Mountain Dew. According to the associated press, a statement from Pepsi revealed that Wayne’s “offensive reference to a revered civil rights icon does not reflect the values of our brand,” which has led the brand to end its endorsements with the rapper.
Lil Wayne’s lyrics on Future’s “Karate Chop (Remix)” has stirred up the news and made national headlines. Following the song’s release, Emmett Till’s cousin publicly criticized Lil Wayne’s racial “pride and dignity” for the deeply insensitive lyrics. The lyrics was compared to the 1955 hate-crime murder of the 15 year-old Till, for allegedly winking at a White woman in Mississippi.
